Who are the Noble Brothers of the Zeta Iota Chapter?
The Zeta Iota Chapter is part of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America: America’s largest and oldest Fraternity in Music. Zeta Iota stands as the oldest and first chapter of Sinfonia founded at an HBCU. Headquartered at the Illustrious Howard University, Zeta Iota stands as a symbol of Musicianship and Brotherhood.
The Object
The Object of this Fraternity shall be for the development of the best and truest fraternal spirit; the mutual welfare and brotherhood of musical students; the advancement of music in America and a loyalty to the Alma Mater.
Our Object
Our Object, adopted in 1901, is the cornerstone of our Fraternity’s existence. It details our mission, motivation, and the way we share moments with each other.
Fraternal Spirit
Although we are connected by music, it’s the experiences we share with each other that makes those bonds strong. The strength of our Fraternal Spirit is the strength of the Fraternity.
Musical Students
We are all students of music. We listen and learn to move through the world, in part, through song. Music induces feelings and uncovers memories we didn’t know we had.
Advancement of Music
It is not the Advancement of American Music. Instead, it’s the Advancement of Music in America that must grow. We are a melting pot of musical styles, thus we have a duty to meld, mold, and make strides to pioneer such styles as they continue to evolve.
Our Alma Mater
Remembering your roots is one of the tenants of the Fraternity, and holds special meaning for the BlPOC community as a whole. We come from the illustrious Howard University and as such we are a representation of them, even after we graduate.
Our Colors
Our colors are RED, BLACK, and GOLD, (in that order).
