The Zeta Iota Chapter was chartered on May 19th, 1952 at Howard University by 21 students and 3 faculty members. ZI has initiated over 300 brothers since 1952 and continue to exemplify the best in music. ZI was the first chapter chartered at a HBCU, commonly known as the Alpha Chapter of Black Chapters spearheaded by Mark Fax – Theta Chapter, 1932 (Syracuse University).
